File Recovery and Data Recovery Software.
Hard Drive recovery utility.

R-Studio is a family of powerful and cost-effective undelete and data recovery software. Empowered by the new unique data recovery technologies, it is the most comprehensive data recovery solution for recovery files from FAT12/16/32/exFAT, NTFS, NTFS5 (created or updated by Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/Win7), HFS/HFS+ (Macintosh), Little and Big Endian variants of UFS1/UFS2 (FreeBSD/OpenBSD/NetBSD/Solaris) and Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 FS (Linux) partitions. It functions on local and network disks, even if such partitions are formatted, damaged or deleted. Flexible parameter settings give you absolute control over data recovery.

In addition to being a full-featured data recovery utility, R-Studio also includes:
  • Deleted without Recycle Bin, or when Recycle Bin has been emptied;
  • Removed by virus attack or power failure;
  • After the partition with the files was reformatted, even for different file system;
  • When the partition structure on a hard disk was changed or damaged. In this case, R-Studio utilities can scan the hard disk trying to find previously existing partitions and recover files from found partitions.
  • From hard disk with bad sectors. R-Studio Data Recovery Software can first copy the entire disk or its part into an image file and then process the image file. This is especially useful when new bad sectors are constantly appearing on the hard disk and remaining information must be immediately saved.
  • NAT/firewall traversal. A connection can be established either from R-Studio to R-Studio Agent, or from R-Studio Agent to R-Studio. This allows R-Studio to traverse NAT/firewall when recovering data over the Internet. HTTP tunneling is used when necessary.
  • Scan algorithm improvement. Scanning was improved for FAT and NTFS partitions.
  • In-place saving of recovered files on a remote computer. When recovering data on a remote computer over network, R-Studio can now save recovered files to another disk of the same remote computer-to an external USB hard drive, for example. Moreover, the remote computer can be connected to the Internet rather than to a local network. This feature is especially useful for data recovery technicians and corporations, which can now serve their clients truly remotely over the Internet and do not need to transfer large volumes of data over network. In addition, files recovered from a remote computer can be saved to a local computer or on another remote computer with an Internet connection where R-Studio Agent is running.
  • Forensic mode (Technician version only). In this mode, R-Studio generates a forensic data collection audit log that can be presented at court hearings. This log includes information about a hardware configuration on which the forensic data collection takes place and MD5 checksum for recovered files.
  • RAID 6 support, including Reed-Solomon and Vertical XOR. Support for custom-specified RAID 6 layouts.
  • Support for exFAT and Ext4 FS file systems.
  • Advanced object copy. In addition to byte to byte copy of any object visible in the Drives panel, smart copy of partitions and hard drives with size and offset adjustment is available.
  • Support for 64- and 32-bit Windows versions. Under a 64-bit Windows, R-Studio overcomes the 3GB RAM limit for a 32-bit application and utilizes all physical RAM installed in the 64-bit Windows machine. This greatly enhances performance of the software, especially when scanning high-capacity disks.
  • Support for digital camera raw images. Canon, Fuji, Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, and Sigma are now supported.
  • Versatile data visualization. R-Studio can show data on the disk either as a real folder/file structure or as files sorted by their extensions, or Creation/Last Accessed/Modification times.
  • File Sorting. Found files and folders can now be easily sorted by the original structure, file extension or file creation/modification time.
  • Expandable Known File Types. New file signatures can be added to the list of known file types by the end user.
  • Support for mass file recovery. R-Studio can automatically apply data recovery options for all files to recover.
  • Common Find/Mark dialog. R-Studio can automatically find and mark multiple files matching search options specified on the Find/Mark dialog.
  • Hex Editor Enhancement. Files can be shown as ANSI or UNICODE text.
  • HFS and HFS+ file systems support. In addition to FAT/NTFS/ExtFS2/ExtFS3/UFS1/UFS2 R-Studio supports HFS and HFS+ file systems developed by Apple Computer for use on computers running the Mac OS.*
    * The Windows version of R-Studio cannot be installed and run on a Mac OS system, but a hard drive with HFS and/or HFS+ partitions can be attached to the Windows machine and processed by R-Studio. You may also download R-Studio for Mac version that was designed for the Mac environment and can be installed and run on a Mac OS system.
  • Apple Computers support. New R-Studio Emergency version can be run from CD on Intel- and PowerPC- based Macintosh computers.
  • Big Endian variant of UFS support.
  • GPT partition layout schema support. This schema is used in 64-bit Windows OS.
  • APM support. Apple Partition Map (APM) is a partition scheme used to define the low-level organization of data on disks formatted for use with Macintosh computers.
  • Support for various unusual RAID configurations. Parameters like block size and order, offsets, and even the number of stripe blocks can be explicitly specified. A visual editor is provided to create a specific block order. Such user-defined configurations can be saved for further use.
  • R-Studio Technician Portable was added to the R-Studio Technician package. The portable version can be run from a USB storage device.
  • Compressed image format support. When R-Studio creates an image of the disk or its part, the image can be compressed and split into several files to put it on CD/DVD/flash drive or FAT16/FAT32*.
    * R-Studio reads and opens the created image only for the purpose of data recovery. For disk imaging and restoration tasks please consider R-Drive Image software.
  • Additional file recovery algorithm. R-Studio not only analyzes file systems metadata ( all file types are supported ) but additionally searches for files of known types ( see list of known file types ) using typical features of their structures that allows the user:
    - to increase the quality of file recovery when the file system is not damaged;
    - to recover files that are not recognized in file system metadata and not found during a disk scanning procedure;
    - to recover files from devices with unknown file systems, including HD, CD, DVD, floppy disk, Compact-Flash Card, USB drive, ZIP drive, Memory Sticks and other removable media.
  • UFS1 and UFS2 file systems support. UFS1/UFS2 file systems are used in FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, and Solaris operating systems.
  • R-Studio Emergency version.* R-Studio Emergency version was developed and added to R-Studio packages at no extra cost. R-Studio Emergency version is run from a compact disc or floppy disk set when it is necessary to recover data on a computer, on which Windows cannot start up because its system files are corrupted or deleted.
    * R-Studio Emergency version is a part of R-Studio software package. When you buy R-Studio single license you may run R-Studio Emergency and/or install R-Studio version on one and the same PC only. You may not transfer the licensed software to another machine.
  • File preview.* File content can be viewed in the R-Studio DEMO or registered mode to estimate recovery chances even if the prescribed application is not installed. The viewer embedded in the R-Studio setup file supports the most common file types, including graphic files, video, audio files, MS Office files, Outlook Mail messages, etc. ( see the list )
    R-Studio Extended Viewer Plugin** supports additional file types ( see the extended list ) and can be downloaded and installed free of charge.
    * R-Studio Emergency does not support the file preview option.
    ** R-Studio Extended Viewer Plugin can be run on a PC only when R-Studio 3.6 or higher version is installed.
  • Scan process visualization. While scanning an object R-Studio graphically shows items that have been found, including files of known types, FAT and NTFS MFT records, boot records, etc.
  • On-the-fly registration.* R-Studio and R-Studio Emergency Demo versions can be registered on the fly, and R-Studio users don't need to reinstall a retail version when their files have been already found.
    * The R-Studio Emergency activation key is generated separately, and a hardware code is necessary to obtain it. The activation key can be requested through Registered User's Console within one year from the date of purchase.
  • Enhanced remote host scanning procedure. In the new R-Studio network versions, data is analyzed on the remote host rather than on the local host thereby greatly increasing the speed of the recovering procedure.
  • Universal disk editor. R-Studio includes an advanced hexadecimal editor to inspect and edit file system structures (NTFS and FAT boot sectors, MFT file record, MBR, LDM structures, etc). Using XML-based language (described in the software Help and Manual), R-Studio users can create own templates to parse files and file systems. The disk editor is particularly helpful for specialists in low-level data processing, IT security, data recovery and computer forensics.
  • Standard Windows Explorer - style interface.
  • Host OS: Windows 9x, ME, NT, 2000, XP, 2003 Server, Vista, 2008 Server, Windows 7.
  • Data recovery over the Network. Files can be recovered on network computers running Win95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/Windows 7, Macintosh, Linux, and UNIX.
  • Supported file systems: FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, NTFS5 (created or updated by Win2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/Win7), HFS/HFS+ (Macintosh), Little and Big Endian variants of UFS1/UFS2 (FreeBSD/OpenBSD/NetBSD/Solaris) and Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 FS (Linux).
  • Recognition and parsing Dynamic (Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/Win7), Basic(MBR) and BSD (UNIX) partitions layout schema and Apple partition map. Dynamic partitions over GPT are supported as well as dynamic partitions over MBR.
  • Damaged RAID recovery. If the OS cannot recognize your RAID, you can create a virtual RAID from its components. Such virtual RAID can be processed like a real one.
  • Creates IMAGE FILES for an entire Hard Disk, Partition or its part. Such image files can be compressed and split into several files to put it on CD/DVD/flash or FAT16/FAT32/exFAT. Then the image files can be processed like regular disks.
  • Data recovery on damaged or deleted partitions, encrypted files (NTFS 5), alternative data streams (NTFS, NTFS 5).
  • Recovering data if:
    • FDISK or other disk utilities have been run;
    • VIRUS has invaded; FAT is damaged; MBR is destroyed.
  • Recognizes localized names.
  • Recovered files can be saved on any (including network) disks accessible by the host operating system.
  • File or disk content can be viewed and edited with the advanced hexadecimal editor. The editor supports NTFS file attribute editing.
R-STUDIO run in the demo mode allows you to evaluate how the utility recovers lost files. The only limitation is you can not recover files larger than 64KB in the demo mode.

All R-Studio versions (except the technician version*) are registered on on-the-fly and no reinstallation required. Depending on the registration key the software is activated to local or network version. When R-Studio run in the demo mode has found a lost file larger than 64KB you may simply double click the file to preview it. If you are satisfied with the file content you may buy the R-Studio license, register the software and recover the file right away.
